The mon (family crest) of the Ii family, this mon in Japanese is actually the character from the family name Ii (it also means to surround).  The dice in this set are labelled as Ii Naotaka as this has been a predominant mon associated with him as the successor to Ii Naomasa. Ii Naotaka led the Red Devil's and the rest of the Ii family as would have made his father proud.  Undeniably ferocious and effective in battle there is a story told of the proud Red Devils' that during the battle for Osaka castle Tokugawa needed Naotaka and his Red Devils' to withdraw from a deteriorating situation, the only way to get the Red Devils' to pull back was to send a small unit to fire on them from behind.  The effect was exactly as Tokugawa wanted, the Ii thinking that the enemy had gotten behind them "attacked to the rear" and thus were removed to immediate safety.

Almost all mon can be found to be used by many different samurai throughout the centuries.
